One of the most challenging classes I took during college was Advanced Typography. The class project was to design a wayfinding system for the Art & Design/Architecture building at the University of Michigan. That building is interesting, but navigating in there is very difficult without help, so the challenge seemed nearly impossible at first.
Since I didn't get a tour of the building before applying for the University, I used my own experience to think about how unwelcoming the building felt the first time I walked in for the first time during orientation, and I used colors to illuminate the space.
My collection of observations and choices was summarized in a book that I designed.
